Why Do I Need A RICS Qualified Valuer?

Chartered valuation surveyors are trained to spot defects in a property and none-standard construction methods as well as development potential that may affect value. Their valuations will be backed by comparable evidence to support their opinion, if challenged.

Trustees, executors and those acting in a fiduciary capacity will have the comfort of knowing that they have sought the best advice to discharge their duties..

By instructing a RICS qualified valuer, you can be confident that you are dealing with a professional with years of experience and one who works to the highest standard of competence.

HMRC may charge an executor a penalty for inaccuracies in returns and documents. They will not charge you a penalty for an inaccuracy if you took reasonable care to get things right.

Certain bodies – such as Homes England will only accept valuations from RICs registered valuers chartered surveyors for help to buy purposes and shared ownership schemes

If you are a registered charity planning to dispose of property, the 2011 charities act requires that the trustees obtain a written report on the proposed sale from a qualified surveyor. The surveyor must be a fellow or member of RICS.
